Several Captain Marvel costumes use the same basic red, blue, and gold palette, but they do not look interchangeable once you know where to focus.
The fastest identifiers are the main torso color, shoulder treatment, chest-star size, gold lines, and sash. Those features separate Carol Danvers' 2019 movie suit from her Avengers: Endgame costume and both of her major looks in The Marvels far more clearly than small surface textures do.
If you are choosing a Captain Marvel costume to buy, identify the version first. A blue-dominant 2019 suit and a red-heavy Endgame suit may both be recognizable as Carol Danvers, but they create noticeably different silhouettes and visual impressions.
Captain Marvel Costume Versions at a Glance
| Captain Marvel version | Fastest way to identify it | Overall look |
|---|---|---|
| Starforce / Vers | Green, black, and silver Kree colors | Military and alien |
| Captain Marvel 2019 | Navy-blue body, red shoulders, gold star and radiating gold lines | Classic MCU Captain Marvel |
| Avengers: Endgame | Red-dominant torso, darker blue sections, blue sash | Bolder and more asymmetrical |
| The Marvels opening suit | Dark navy body, red shoulder area, small star and narrow gold bands | Restrained and streamlined |
| The Marvels large-star suit | Oversized gold chest star over a deep red center | Graphic and emblem-dominant |
The three red-blue-gold eras are easiest to separate by looking at the chest before anything else. The 2019 costume surrounds a relatively compact star with prominent gold framing. Endgame shifts much more of the chest itself to red. The later Marvels costume enlarges the star until the emblem becomes the dominant shape on the entire upper body.
The Green Starforce Suit Is Carol Before the Classic Captain Marvel Look
Carol begins Captain Marvel in a Kree Starforce uniform rather than the red-blue-gold costume most people associate with the character.
The green and dark teal palette is the obvious giveaway. Black and silver detailing reinforce the military appearance, while the helmet and illuminated mohawk make the Kree identity even clearer.
The important distinction is not simply that this costume has different colors. The Starforce design presents Carol as part of a unit. Its darker palette, segmented construction, and shared Kree styling make it look more like a uniform than a standalone superhero identity.
During the movie, Carol changes the suit's colors before settling on the familiar red, blue, and gold combination. The film also briefly cycles through other palettes, but those temporary color variations do not need to be treated as separate major costumes for buying purposes.
Choose a Starforce costume specifically if you want the Vers/Kree version of Carol. If your goal is the instantly recognizable superhero Captain Marvel appearance, the 2019 red-blue-gold suit is the stronger reference point.
The 2019 Captain Marvel Costume Is the Classic Blue-Dominant MCU Look
The hero suit from Captain Marvel is probably the easiest version to recognize without checking a movie title.
Its main visual structure is straightforward:
Navy blue dominates the torso and legs.
Red forms a broad section across the shoulders.
A gold star sits at the center of the blue chest.
Gold lines extend outward from the emblem toward the shoulders.
Red and gold accents continue through the waist, arms, and legs.
That arrangement gives the costume a very balanced three-color appearance.
The shoulder treatment matters almost as much as the star. Red stretches broadly across the upper body while the gold lines visually connect the chest emblem to that shoulder band. Instead of looking like a small symbol placed on an otherwise blue costume, the star becomes the center of a larger chest design.
That is one reason the 2019 suit remains recognizable at medium distance. You may lose some of the fine panel lines, but the blue torso, red shoulder yoke, and gold star structure remain easy to read.
The current XheroSuits 2019 design follows this same arrangement, with a gold starburst on a navy chest, red across the shoulders, and gold borders running around the upper costume.
If someone says they want the "Captain Marvel movie costume" without naming a specific Avengers or sequel appearance, this is usually the safest version to picture.
Endgame Flips the Color Balance and Adds the Sash
The Avengers: Endgame Captain Marvel costume uses familiar Carol Danvers colors, but the balance between those colors changes dramatically.
The easiest rule is:
2019 is mostly blue through the torso. Endgame is much more red.
In the Endgame design, a deep red field runs prominently through the center of the chest and torso. Dark blue shifts toward the upper chest, sides, limbs, and surrounding panels. The gold star remains central, but it now sits against red instead of the large navy field that defines the 2019 costume.
That change makes the Endgame costume look warmer and visually heavier through the center.
The second unmistakable clue is the blue sash around the waist.
The sash interrupts the otherwise controlled symmetry of the bodysuit and introduces a diagonal element at the hip. Even if someone misses the exact arrangement of red and blue panels, that asymmetry can quickly identify the Endgame version.
It also gives this costume a slightly different silhouette. The 2019 design keeps most of its visual information inside the fitted lines of the suit. Endgame adds something extending across and away from the waist, so the eye does not move straight down the centerline in quite the same way.
XheroSuits' current Avengers Endgame Captain Marvel Carol Danvers Jumpsuit reproduces that red-centered layout as a printed jumpsuit and includes the blue sash graphic over one hip. The product page lists the suit as 40D polyester and the package as one jumpsuit; a mask is offered as an optional add-on.
For a buyer comparing 2019 and Endgame costumes, there is little reason to obsess over tiny panel details. Look at the center of the torso and the waist. Blue chest plus red shoulders points to 2019. Red chest plus blue sash points to Endgame.
The Marvels Starts with a Cleaner, More Restrained Captain Marvel Suit
Carol's first major costume in The Marvels changes the visual language again.
This version still uses navy, red, and gold, but it removes much of the elaborate gold framing associated with earlier designs.
The main identifiers are:
A predominantly dark navy body
Deep red concentrated around the collar and shoulders
A relatively small central star
Two narrow gold bands running across the upper chest
Much less red through the middle of the torso than Endgame
The result is darker and quieter than either of the previous red-blue-gold costumes.
Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park described the design direction as more relaxed and less soldier- or armor-like than Carol's earlier appearances. That difference is visible even without analyzing individual seams.
The 2019 suit uses gold lines to spread attention across the upper body. Endgame uses a large red central field and sash. This Marvels design reduces both effects. The eye is pulled toward the red shoulder area and smaller chest emblem rather than being confronted with one dominant torso shape.
That restraint can be an advantage if you prefer a Captain Marvel costume that does not look as visually busy.
The corresponding XheroSuits The Marvels Captain Marvel Carol Danvers Jumpsuit uses the same dark navy body, red shoulder concentration, small central star, and narrow gold chest bands. The listing identifies the material as 40D polyester and the package as a jumpsuit.
This is the stronger choice if you like Carol's darker, more understated later MCU look rather than the more heavily framed 2019 design.
The Marvels' Large-Star Suit Makes the Emblem the Main Event
The later Captain Marvel costume from The Marvels is much harder to confuse with the previous version.
The reason is sitting directly in the middle of the chest.
A large faceted gold star spreads across much of the upper torso. Rather than using a small emblem surrounded by several separate gold lines, this costume enlarges the star itself until it becomes the central graphic.
The surrounding colors support that shape:
Deep red occupies the central torso.
Dark navy covers the collar, shoulders, arms, and much of the lower body.
Thin blue lines frame portions of the red.
Gold detailing is concentrated heavily in the oversized emblem.
That changes how the entire costume reads.
On the 2019 suit, the eye notices a network of red, blue, and gold shapes working together. On this version, the eye lands on the star first and processes the rest of the costume afterward.
That also makes it one of the easiest Captain Marvel suits to identify from a distance. Small piping and texture disappear as a person moves farther away. A giant high-contrast gold emblem does not disappear nearly as quickly.
XheroSuits' The Marvels Captain Marvel Carol Danvers Jumpsuits listing is based on this large-star version, with the faceted gold emblem set over a deep red central field and dark navy surrounding it. The page lists 40D polyester and a jumpsuit as the package content.
If the star emblem is the part of Captain Marvel's design you most want to stand out in photos or across a convention hall, this version has the clearest visual advantage.
2019 vs. Endgame vs. The Marvels: Which Captain Marvel Costume Should You Choose?
The designs produce different visual results, so the choice can be more concrete than simply picking a favorite movie.
Choose the 2019 Captain Marvel suit for the most recognizable solo-movie look
Pick the 2019 version if you picture Captain Marvel primarily as a blue superhero suit with red shoulders and gold framing.
It represents Carol's first established red-blue-gold MCU superhero appearance and is the strongest default choice if you want a costume that reads simply as Captain Marvel without pointing as strongly to a later movie.
Choose the Endgame suit for more red and the blue sash
The Endgame costume is the better choice if the red-dominant torso and blue sash are the features you prefer.
The sash gives the costume a more asymmetrical profile than the cleaner 2019 bodysuit. Carol's shorter hairstyle in the movie can reinforce the Endgame reference if you are styling a complete cosplay, but the costume itself is recognizable without copying the hair.
Choose the first The Marvels suit for a darker, cleaner design
The opening Marvels costume works best if you want a more restrained Captain Marvel look.
Its darker body and smaller chest emblem create less visual competition across the torso than the 2019 and Endgame designs while still keeping Carol's familiar red, blue, and gold identity.
Choose the large-star The Marvels suit if you want maximum emblem visibility
Choose this version if the Hala star is the feature you want viewers to notice first.
Its much larger emblem remains the visual center of the costume even when smaller piping and panel details are no longer easy to see.
Choose Starforce only if you specifically want Vers
The Starforce uniform communicates a different point in Carol's story.
Its green Kree palette works best for someone specifically recreating Vers or Starforce Carol, rather than someone looking for the familiar red-blue-gold Captain Marvel appearance.
Matching the MCU Versions to Current Captain Marvel Costumes
Once you know which design you want, the product names become considerably less cryptic.
XheroSuits currently lists four Carol Danvers costumes in its Captain Marvel costumes collection: one based on the 2019 movie, one based on Avengers: Endgame, and two different designs from The Marvels.
| If you want this version | Current matching XheroSuits option |
|---|---|
| Captain Marvel 2019 | Movie Captain Marvel 3D Cosplay Jumpsuit |
| Avengers: Endgame | Avengers Endgame Captain Marvel Carol Danvers Jumpsuit |
| The Marvels dark navy / small-star suit | The Marvels Captain Marvel Carol Danvers Jumpsuit |
| The Marvels large-star suit | The Marvels Captain Marvel Carol Danvers Jumpsuits |
The 2019 and Endgame listings currently offer an optional mask, while the two Marvels listings do not state a mask option. The individual pages also provide selectable zipper and EVA-sole options, but those details are secondary to the first decision: which Captain Marvel are you actually trying to look like?
Start with the chest.
A navy chest framed by red shoulders and gold lines points to 2019. A red chest with a blue sash points to Endgame. A dark navy torso with a small star and narrow gold bands points to the first Marvels look. An oversized gold star across a red center points to the later Marvels suit.
Once those shapes are obvious, four costumes that initially look like variations of the same red-blue-gold uniform become very difficult to confuse.
